P Is for Passion — Fuelling the Fire Within
Passion is not a romantic notion. It is those deep-rooted desires, recurring dreams, and projects that keep you awake at night and fire you up like nothing else. But knowing your passion is only the beginning. The real question is: what are you pouring into it? How full is your passion tank — and what does it take to keep it burning?

P Is for Passion — Fuelling the Fire Within
Let us be clear from the start: we are not talking about romantic affairs.
We are talking about something deeper. Something more enduring. Those deep-rooted desires, expressions, dreams and projects that keep you awake at night — not with worry, but with aliveness. Those interests that keep returning even after a long pause, as if they know you will come back to them eventually. Those ideas that fire you up so completely that it seems almost impossible to come down from the high.
That is passion.
And the first question worth sitting with is this: have you truly deliberated about yours?
What Is Your Passion?
Not what you think you should be passionate about. Not what looks impressive or makes sense on paper. Not what your family expected of you or what your career trajectory seems to demand.
What genuinely lights you up?
There may be many answers. Passion is rarely singular. You might find it in the way you create — through writing, cooking, building, designing, teaching, healing. You might find it in a cause that will not leave you alone, a community you feel called to serve, a problem you cannot stop trying to solve.
Take the time to really know your passions. Sit with them. Name them. Do not rush past this step in the eagerness to get to the doing — because if you are not clear on what you are passionate about, it is very difficult to fuel something you have not yet fully identified.
How Full Is Your Passion Tank?
Once you have identified your passion, the next question becomes: what are you pouring into it?
What are you actively investing — your time, your energy, your attention, your resources — to move these deep-rooted desires from ideation to reality? Because passion without investment remains a beautiful dream. It stays in the realm of someday rather than now.
Think of your passion as a tank. How full is it right now?
Are you seeing it as half full — with gratitude for what has already been built, what has already been started, what already exists? Or are you seeing it as half empty — focused on how far you still have to go, how much is still missing, how long it is taking?
Your perspective on where you are matters enormously. The same tank, seen through different eyes, produces entirely different energy. And energy is what passion runs on.
What Feeds Your Passion?
This is a question worth returning to regularly: what actually keeps the fire burning?
For some, it is community — being around others who share the same dream, who understand the language of your particular obsession, who can remind you why it matters when you forget.
For others, it is learning — going deeper into the subject, discovering new dimensions of what you love, finding that the more you know, the more there is to know and the more excited you become.
For others still, it is the act of doing itself — the hours spent in the work, the small progress made, the evidence that the thing is real and growing.
What are those things you make time for, deliberately, to ensure you remain excited about your ideas? What rituals, habits, or environments keep you connected to your passion when life gets busy and the noise gets loud?
Know these things. Protect them.
What Must You Avoid?
Equally important — and often overlooked — is the question of what drains your passion tank.
There are people, environments, habits, and thought patterns that quietly siphon the energy from your dreams. Comparison that leaves you feeling behind. Criticism that you have not yet learned to filter. Overcommitment that leaves no space for the thing that matters most. Perfectionism that keeps you from starting because the conditions are never quite right.
What are the things you must avoid to keep those dreams alive?
You do not have to eliminate everything difficult from your life. But you do need to be conscious of what depletes you — and make intentional choices about how much access those things have to your most precious resource: your passion.
Passion and the Flow
We have spoken about the flow. About openness. About allowing the abundance of life to move through you freely.
Your passion, when activated, does something remarkable to that flow: it energises it.
Because when you are living in alignment with your passion, you are no longer a passive observer of life. You become an active participant — fully present, fully engaged, fully on purpose. You are sharing your gifts and talents as they were always meant to be shared. You are contributing something that only you can contribute, in the way that only you can contribute it.
We are all meant to be active participants in the flow of life. Sharing. Giving. Co-creating. Receiving. Accepting. Fully being.
Passion is not a luxury. It is not something to pursue once everything else is sorted. It is the very thing that makes the flow come alive — in you, and through you, and out into the world.
A Question Worth Sitting With
How do you feel about that?
Are you ready to fuel your passion?
Not someday. Not when the timing is better or the circumstances are easier or the fear has finally gone quiet.
Now. With what you have. From where you are.
The fire is already in you. It has always been there. All it needs is for you to tend to it.
Tomorrow we continue our alphabet of a grateful life. Come back for Q — another doorway, another invitation.
